In the world of laptop design, size definitely does matter, although it is too often sacrificed in the interest of providing adequate features and capabilities. However, there is one model that has seemingly managed to bring together these two convergent goals, and it is the Alienware-M11x.
The Alienware-M11x is just a tad bit larger than netbooks such as the Asus 1101HA and the Sony Vaio X, but this innovative laptop is definitely in a class all its own. Underneath the futuristic looking shell is a host of technological innovations that should make this one of the best choices for hardcore gaming.
Most users will likely be drawn to the Alienware-M11x’s superior build quality at first, or its compact backlit keyboard. Nevertheless, the inside is what really counts with the Alienware, and the twin graphics processors boasts of enough grunt to handle even the most demanding applications. Far from being a power hog however, the Alienware-M11x comes with a low power chip that extends the unit’s battery life significantly. And with up to six and a half hours of gameplay possible on a single charge, you definitely have more than enough time to put the GeForce GT 335M graphics processor through its paces.
One other welcome feature of the Alienware-M11x is its switchable graphics capability, which was previously available in the MacBook Pro and in the Sony Vaio Z line of laptops. To its credit however, the Alienware-M11x has managed to combine superb performance and long battery life in a way that few of its predecessors have been able to.
On the downside, the Alienware-M11x seems to occasionally suffer from washed out and pale images, which has been attributed to its low dynamic range. Nevertheless, the Alienware-M11x does offer a lot of power under the hood, making it a more than worthy contender in the laptop stakes.
